The new run of Casinos and their ES line out of China are fantastic. With very minimum set up out of the box, you get a wonderful, quality instrument at a very reasonable price. I say go for it Messages 15, Mine arrives tomorrow and I can't wait.
Fun guitars. I don't have this one any more but it was pretty cool. Some have pretty hot pickups and could use a replacement for a more vintage tone. Love the color! Messages 27, They are filled with music. Tune-O-Matic Member. If you can swing it, I'd say go for the Elitist. I had one for a while and it was an exceptional instrument; equal to or better than anything coming out of the Gibson factory Custom Shop or otherwise.
It just wasn't me though so I sold it. MissoulaGriz said:. Yeah, I wanted a Casino because i've heard great things about them, and they are cheap, so im not gonna go with an Etlist. I've noticed that guitar center online sells the John Lennon ones used for the price of the normal ones used, so I'll probably pick one of those up.
That's a major plus because my tone is very Beatles inspired. The Lennon model has the Gibson pickups. Worth it. Teleking Silver Supporting Member.
I kinda chuckle at these threads when I see them. I owned an elitist. Owned a Lennon as well. While they were both nice guitars I kept the two standards I owned. Both are Korean Peerless models but they easily out-classed both my higher end Casinos. I'd never sell either guitar as they play better than many 3K guitars I own.
I think some people want to justify their purchases. I did as well. I wanted to believe they were better. They were not. And I much preferred the Epiphone pickups to the Gibsons.
Think about it This is not a pickup Gibson deals with often. Epiphone has been making this pickup for almost 60 years Teleking said:. Messages 5, You could also shoot for the recent lennons or 61? This is the end of my Epiphone Casino review.

On all this guitar gets pretty top marks in all categories and it is specifically well suited for jazz or blues guitar. Might have been more helpful to demo the guitar doing some swing or jazz.

Basically, try a few, and definitely look around at other makes; I was surprised where I ended up other than over budget, which was no surprise at all. Soundcloud Embarrassments. Musicwolf Frets: I first played a Casino in a Piano Bar in Japan a sort of open mic club. No idea where it was made presumably Japan , the strings were incredibly old and I played through a little solid state combo.
Had a great night and loved the guitar. I went back on a subsequent visit to the country and played the same guitar with similar results. As a result I ordered a Chinese model from Thomann which came equipped with a Bigsby. It took a bit of setting up straight out of the box but no major problems. I gigged it for a while and whilst it hasn't seen much use recently I'm keeping hold. If I do sell there are a couple of people I know who would bight my hand off. Aesthetically, the guitars were great, especially the cherry. The wood was decent with nice figuring on both, and the finish was quite good. Playability was as expected for the price point, and both guitars were slightly on the heavier side. The big letdown with these guitars was their sound. The guitars were lacking top end and sounded 'dead'.
No amount of fiddling with the pickups solved the issue. I liked playing them acoustically more than I liked playing plugged-in. Another minor niggle was the shape of the top and back panels; they were almost flat, unlike vintage casinos with a bit more 'sculpting' to them.
